Samplers are at the heart of many electronic musician's setups, very often being the only component of a rig! In this video, we'll break down exactly what a sampler is at its foundations. I'll cover a couple of very popular examples that I have in my rig: the Elektron Digitakt, and the Teenage Engineering OP-1.
Whether you're a beginner or a seasoned expert, there's a sampler out there for everyone. The beauty of samplers is that they are only confounded by the workflow of the hardware. Any sampler can play any sound, any style, and any genre of music.
What are your favorite samplers, sampling techniques, or sample sources?
