Thank you so much for taking the time to watch another James and Jazz video. In today's video, we focus on how to make a spouse list and the qualities to look for in a significant other. Perhaps you've never heard of creating a future spouse list! Well, if you want to know how to identify your future husband or wife, then you've hit the jackpot coming across this video. So, do yourself a favor and keep reading on and be sure to watch the full video too.
Why to make a spouse list: I (James) made a future wife list, and Jasmine made a future husband list because we both were tired of finding and dating the wrong people. No more watching the days, weeks, months, and years go by with the wrong person. We wanted to find the one! We had both decided that it was time to find the right one, and the right one is that perfect helpmate (your Adam or Eve) that God created for you as your ministry partner.
I practiced Psalm 37:4, "Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart," before I began creating my wife list. I highly suggest doing that because as you spend time delighting yourself in the Lord through worship, prayer, and reading your Bible, the Lord will give you the desires of your heart for your future spouse. Remember, God's good, perfect and pleasing plans for your life are far better than your own. He knows far better than you do what you need in a spouse, so who better to seek out for Wisdom on that than God Himself?! So, in this case, "Give you," in that scripture means that He will give you the desires in your heart for the perfect helpmate that He has created for you and will ultimately help you to cross paths with and meet. Since I delighted myself in the Lord before making my future spouse list, God made it very clear what I needed to write down on my list. Now I knew what spouse material was for me.
*Attention: One thing I do know is that the Bible says, "Do not be unequally yoked," so if you are a Christian, I would highly suggest that you only date other Christians. Do not compromise on this as it is a dangerous road to go down. You will be at risk of being pulled away from your relationship with Jesus to date someone that is not a Christian. It is not your responsibility to bring someone of the opposite sex to Jesus by dating them. It's simply too risky to take this chance. Furthermore, when someone says that they are a Christian, you need to press into that and see what that means to them. Some people say that they are Christian because they grew up going to church with Mom and Dad, but they never really pressed into a strong relationship with Jesus for themselves. Remember, the Bible says, "you will know them by their fruit." Does the fruit in their life point to a life that is sold out for Jesus?
Praying for your future wife or husband is your next step. You never know what they might be going through at this very moment in time. They might be in a long term relationship right now that they need the strength and guidance of the Lord to get out of it. So, pray, pray, pray.
Next, you need to be dating with the intentions of marriage and be honest and upfront with that person from the get go. A lot of people date simply to kill time and have no intentions of getting married anytime soon. Don't get wrapped up in this nonsense as time is being wasted, and someone will more than likely get hurt in the long run. Begin to compare the qualities of this person to your list to see if this person matches up with the list that the Lord helped you to create. If the first date goes well and this list seems to line up, go for a second date and continue to mark things off the list. I personally never had to go on more than three dates before realizing the girl wasn't the one for me.
Finally, dress like you want to get married. I briefly mention this at the end of the video, and we plan to do a whole video on this topic too. Ladies, what this means is don't wear tops that show cleavage, or crop tops, or booty shorts. This will likely attract men that want you for the wrong reasons, and it will ultimately scare the good Christian men away as they may be thinking in their heads that you are promiscuous and far from ready to be married. Again, we will talk more about this in a future Life and Relationships video.
