In this video we inspect and repair the cracked wiring in a BMW E46 Xenon headlight from a 325Ci. I use two methods - one is to re-sheath the wires in shrink tubing, and the other method uses liquid electrical tape. Both methods are effective and you may choose one over another.
When I got my project BMW 325Ci, the headlights didn't work. A lot of stuff was jacked up, but what do you expect from the cheapest BMW for sale in the Bay Area at the time. With the internals all in disarray, I immediately looked for another set. New, this was an $800 option from the factory, but now they are over $1000 each to replace with new if you can find them at all. I considered switching to LED or Halogen, but decided to fix what I have. I found a second set nearby and bought them - the wires were jacked up too, but with two sets, I could source the parts needed to make a complete pair. I asked about the wires and he said they are all like this.
Inspect wiring
Solder and Re-sheath with shrink tube 3:10
Coat exposed wire sections with liquid electrical tape 23:50
Reassemble internals 31:45
