Preparation of superhydrophobic spray and coatings
Superhydrophobic materials refer to materials with a water contact angle greater than 150° and a sliding angle less than 10°
Because the contact area between water droplet and superhydrophobic surface is small, water droplet can slip from the surfaces easily. The superhydrophobic surfaces have self-cleaning function.
the superhydrophobic surface has a low surface energy and high surface roughness
and it can be constructed by controlling both chemical composition and surface structure.
Preparation of superhydrophobic spray and coatings
At first (0.3 g) of SiO2 nanoparticles were dispersed in (40 mL) ethanol for 15 min under ultrasonication. Then they were further treated for 5 min with a high-speed homogenizer. Afterwards, (11.06 g) siloxane was added gradually under magnetic stirring within 20 min. Thus, an ivorywhite suspension was obtained.
The superhydrophobic coatings were fabricated by manually
spraying the as-prepared suspension on various substrates.
