Homemade Mashed potatoes:
2 lbs (about 1kg) russet potatoes with 1 tbsp of salt in water and 1-2 tsp of extra salt when mixing
1 1/4 cups whole milk (295 ml)
4-6 tbsp unsalted butter 60-85 grams (depending on how buttery you like them)

Restaurant-style mashed potatoes:
2 lbs (about 1 kg) Yukon gold potatoes 1 tbsp of salt in water and 1-2 tsp of extra salt when mixing
3/4 cups milk (177 ml)
4-6 tbsp unsalted butter 60-85 grams (depending on how buttery you like them)
3-4 tbsp finely chopped fresh chives
2-4 tbsp finely grated fresh horseradish (depending on how spicy you like them)

Michelin star potatoes:
2 1/2 lbs (1.13 kg) red potatoes
1 cup (236 ml) heavy cream
8 oz (226 grams) unsalted butter
2-3 tsp Maldon sea salt
