Ali Bongo’s Billionaire Lavish Lifestyle – 90 Billion Francs Cash Found in his Residence.
This is Ali Bongo Ondimba, Until August 30th 2023, He served as the third president of Gabon from 2009 to 2023. Ali Bongo took over from his father Omar Bongo who ruled Gabon for over 42 years, from 1967 until his death in 2009. Ali his Son has ruled Gabon for 14 years which bring the Bongo Dynasty to 56 years. For 56 Years Gabon has been ruled by the Bongo Family which is typical for most African Leaders. At the Top of my head I can mention Paul Biya who have ruled Cameroon for 42 years, Youweri Museveni who have ruled Uganda for close to 40 years and Dennis Sassou Ngueso who have rued the Republic of Congo for close to 27 years.
Well, Back to Ali Bongo, on Wednesday, August 30th, President Ali Bongo woke up to find himself under house arrest by military forces and accused of “unpredictable, irresponsible governance as well as embezzlement and corruption. In a video circulating on social media, we could see him begging for support and asking his friends and the international community to make noise (Insert clip). This is not the first time such a coup is happening in Gabon. In January 2019 a small group of military officers attempted a coup d'état. The group of soldiers took over the national radio station in Libreville, the capital city, and announced their intentions to overthrow the government.
The attempted coup occurred while President Ali Bongo was still recovering from a stroke he had suffered in October 2018. The coup plotters claimed that they were acting to restore democracy in the country.
The Gabonese government responded swiftly to the coup attempt. Security forces regained control of the radio station within hours, and several members of the coup were arrested. President Bongo, who was still recovering at the time, made a public appearance to reassure the nation that he was in control and that the coup had been thwarted.
The government later asserted that the coup attempt had been orchestrated by a small group of military officers and that they did not have widespread support within the military. The situation was brought under control relatively quickly, and there were no further significant disruptions to the political stability of Gabon following the failed coup attempt. Well this time around they succeeded and ousted Ali Bongo.
