The language of hardliner versus reformist is a false dichotomy invented by the Islamic Republic of Iran for the West to promote the idea that they can negotiate with a more “moderate” leader — despite the fact Pezeshkian yet another puppet of Khamenei.
This is strategic for the regime, especially if they anticipate a future Trump presidency, which will almost certainly see a crackdown of sanctions.
I urge the West and Western media to listen to the Iranian people and not play into the hands of the Islamic Republic. There is no reforming the regime. Only regime change will bring freedom to Iran.
