Rae Duncan, MD, PhD, discusses the long-term cardiovascular effects of COVID-19.
Studies have shown that COVID significantly increased risk of heart attack and heart failure, heart rhythm abnormalities, stroke and blood clot deaths and other heart complications. This was true for hospitalized and non-hospitalized patients.
Dr. Rae Duncan is a cardiologist focusing on the impacts of Long Covid. Dr. Duncan set up one of the first Long Covid cardiovascular complications clinics and ran it for almost a year. She has designed and written four separate Long Covid treatment trials on both sides of the Atlantic which are in various stages of set up. Dr. Duncan is a Medical Champion for the Long Covid Kids charity and strongly believes we should be doing more to protect both children and adults from repeated exposure to Sars-CoV-2. She has also recently joined our Expert Advisory Team on Long Covid here at the World Health Network.
