This is the alternate US music video of the song "The Ketchup Song (Aserejé)" by the Spanish group "Las Ketchup".
Las Ketchup is a girl group from Spain that consists of three (and later four) Muñoz sisters. Aserejé is notable for not only being the group's first single, but it is also the song that the group sent in to Sony in an attempt to sign with the label. Not many groups can say their demo tape ended up becoming their biggest hit! While the group split up many times since their 2001 formation, they are currently still active and performing live (as of 2023).
Enjoy this rare alternate music video to a song that's a true "ear worm"!
Fun fact: For those who missed the lyrics like I did, the song is about a man named Diego who listens to his buddy DJ. The DJ plays his favorite song which is "Rapper's Delight" by "The Sugarhill Gang." The chorus of Aserejé is his mispronunciation of the rap from the song!
Fun fact 2: This song was controversial in many Spanish-speaking countries! Some believed the nonsense lyrics were literally calling for Satanism (i.e. According to Wikipedia, "Aserejé" is heard as "a ser hereje", meaning "let's be heretical".) and others interpreted the cover art/imagery as having alternate evil meanings (i.e. The CD in Spain had three tomatoes with three high-heeled legs extending out that vaguely looked like the number of the devil, "666").
