Researchers have been assessing daily low-dose aspirin use for people who do not have a history of heart disease but who are at high risk of developing it due to health issues such as high cholesterol and blood pressure.
But new studies show that the risks may greatly reduce or cancel out the benefits.
According to Aventura Cardiologist, Leonard Pianko MD, "people aged 60 or older who are at risk of heart disease should not start a daily low-dose aspirin regimen to prevent a first heart attack because the risk of internal bleeding outweighs its benefits."
