HUSAN, West Bank. Several weeks ago an Israeli far right deputy put forth a bill calling for the banning of the Muslim call to prayer, saying 100's of thousands of Israelis routinely suffer from it. Despite having received support from the Prime Minister Benyamin Netanyahu the law was dropped. This time, however the Israeli Civil Administration in the West Bank is suggesting that a system could be installed on mosques in order to control the volume of the loudspeakers which are latched onto the minarets. Our correspondent reports both from a Palestinian mosque and from the neighbouring ISraeli settlement at the time of the firts call to prayer in the day.
