Short, medium and long-term corruption trends for South Korea and neighbouring North Asian countries are presented in this video using scores published by Transparency International in their 2023 Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI) report.
The video reviews South Korea’s performance in addressing corruption in the periods 2021-2023 and 2022-2023.
South Korea’s CPI score recorded an overall significant improvement in 2012-2023. After declining during 2012-2016, the country’s CPI score steadily increased in 2016-2022.
The rate of improvement in the country’s CPI score significantly exceeded the rate of change in average North Asian, Asia/Pacific and global CPI scores in 2012-2023 and 2018-2023.
