Two 1970 Ford Torino Cobra's go head to head in a quarter mile drag race. Both cars are competing in the Pure Stock Drags, so modifications are limited to porting, blue printing and minor weight reduction without altering the stock appearance. That means stock intake manifold, stock exhaust manifolds and street tires. Both cars are powered by Ford's 429 Cubic Inch Super Cobra Jet (7.0 Liter) V8 which was rated at 375 horsepower and 450 lb-ft of torque. This was the highest horsepower engine you could get in a Torino in 1970. 375 Horsepower doesn't sound like much today; however, in 1970, these cars with minor mods were street killers.
Both cars are equipped with Ford's Top Loader 4 Speed Transmission and 4.30 gears. So both cars are mechanical identical. So, WHO WINs? This one is very, very close.
