2. Cutaway of security at doors
3. SOUNDBITE: (German) Angela Merkel, German Chancellor:
"If Iran doesn't agree to this offer (package of incentives to give up nuclear enrichment), we will unfortunately have to pursue other ways. The window for negotiation isn't closed, but Iran must also realise that those who put forward the offer are willing, together - and that's also the result of the past few days, Russia, China, the E-3 (Germany, France, Britain) and the USA together - to act and this will be made clear through the UN Security Council resolution."
4. Wide of news conference
5. SOUNDBITE: (German) Angela Merkel, German Chancellor:
"We are of the opinion (on the Middle East) that everything has to be done to restore peace. We have to remember how the escalation of the conflict started: through the kidnap of a soldier and through the Israeli shelling and now we all call, I do in any case, for this violence to cease and for the soldiers to be returned and for the rocket attacks against Israel to cease."
6. Cutaway of media
7. SOUNDBITE: (English) George Bush, US President:
"I made it clear to the Iranians that if they were to do what they said they would do - which is to stop enrichment in a verifiable fashion - we're more than pleased to come back to the table. There is no question that this issue can be solved diplomatically, and there's no question it can be solved diplomatically with Germany and the United States strategising how to solve it."
8. Wide of news conference
9. SOUNDBITE: (English) George Bush, US President:
"Hezbollah doesn't want there to be peace, the militant arm of Hamas doesn't want there to be peace, and those of us who do want peace will continue to work together to encourage peace."

11. SOUNDBITE: (English) George Bush, US President:
"Israel has a right to defend herself. Every nation must defend herself against terrorist attacks and the killing of innocent life, it's a necessary part of the 21st century. Secondly, whatever Israel does should not weaken the (Prime Minister Fuad) Saniora government in Lebanon."
12. Wide of news conference
13. SOUNDBITE: (English) George Bush, US President:
"I'm committed to the six-party talks (on North Korea) and that the five of us in the six-party talks will work to convince North Korea to come back to the table. I'm hopeful that we can get UN action on North Korea."

STORYLINE
The US president and Germany's chancellor presented a united front on Thursday over the Iranian nuclear issue and the current situation in the Middle East and Lebanon.
Speaking at a joint news conference in Stralsund, Chancellor Angela Merkel said a clear message would be sent to Iran via the UN Security Council if Tehran did not accept the package of incentives offered by Germany, France, Britain, the USA, Russia and China.
"If Iran doesn't agree to this offer, we will unfortunately have to pursue other ways," she warned.
US President George Bush said there was still time for a peaceful solution to the Iranian nuclear issue.
"There is no question that this issue can be solved diplomatically," he said.
