【Pls look at the top comment first】Dear aor friends, this is a hidden masterpiece for all of you. Big Mouth, a less known name with only one album that can be found. Rare as they are, even with less information of them, Big Mouth is not inferior to any other big names. It is worth mentioning that their only album came out in 1997 as we know those years during mid to late 1990s seemed not to be good to hard rock and melodic rock because music world changed from early 1990s. But one thing can be sure that those quality records released in mid and late 1990s prove hard rock and melodic rock still have competitive power in music circles, which need to be tresured all the time and should never be overlooked though many of those bands were forgotten without support and promotion. What shall we do is to give more consideration, share the music with friends on social media platforms and found their album online to buy it because many albums are not expensive.
This album was originally recorded in 1994 at Pacific Coast Recording, Long Beach and released in 1997 by Zoo Money Records (Sweden). As a five-piece band, the core members of Big Mouth are the vocalist Larry Leon, the keyboardist Phil Cristian and the producer Dan Voss, who also played drums in the band. All the 10 tracks include slow emotional ballads like the theme titled song "Hands of Time", pure aor works and solid aor tune like the last track "Shout It". It is never too exaggerated to emphasize that you will be hit in the heart when the opening track "Where Were You" kicks in, then get lost in the following songs one after another. This track "Valerie" is my personal favourite. This lively song is painted with super choruses in colour. Other tracks as "Borderline", "Without Love", "Save Me" and "Million Miles Away" are all aor jewels which should never be missed.
Their keyboardist Phil Cristian is also a great singer. Check out his solo album "No Prisoner (1988)". The superb ballad "Million Miles Away" is included in both the albums of Big Mouth and himself, featuring Cristian on vocals, that means this song was written and recorded in 1980s. Actually, I know Phil Cristian prior to Big Mouth. I heard some tracks from Big Mouth sounds like late 1980s and early 1990s tunes but not sure when they were written originally. Anyway, for all these bands with only one debut, Big Mouth deserves all thumbs up as one of the best memorable names. Enjoy !
