In previous lessons, we learn the conversions between metric and imperial systems. In this lesson, we will try to convert units with squares and cubic. What we learn from the previous lesson will be important because we need to know how to convert between different units before doing any conversions involving squares and cubic.
This question is a little bit difficult than usual because you're going from feet cube to centimetre cube. So you're gonna have to figure out how many centimetres you have in 1 foot, okay. So, what we're gonna do first is start of by using, converting foot to centimetres, here we go. We know that for every foot, we should have... Let's see the converting factor in front of me here, about 30.5 centimetres, okay. So we have 30.5 centimetres. Now, but the conversion factor that we need it's the cube ones, right. So this is a little trick. If you cube this number here, and you'll be doing the same thing over here, okay. Now if you do the math correctly, 1 to the power 3 it's still one and the unit becomes 1 cubic feet right there; and this will equal to 30.5 to the power 3, okay. And the magical number that we have here is 28372, 28372 of course we have a bunch of decimals in the back, don't worry about it just round it off; and the centimetre becomes cube, okay. So now, this is your conversion factor right here, between the feet cube and the centimetre cube. Then we come back to the question over here, which 8 feet cubed. We've got 8 feet cube and we're gonna multiply the conversion factor, and since we're trying to find centimetres cube, we put a centimetre cube on the top. So we put this magical number here 28372.6 centimetre cube and we're gonna divide it by the 1 feet cube at the bottom. Again the units will cancel, so, that kinda tells you're doing the right thing, you know, you're supposed to get centimetre cube at the very end. Take out your calculator, punch in 8 x 28372.6 and your final answer should be 2269.81, 2269.81. There's my little 8 and don't forget your final unit will be centimetre cube. And that's it. So nothing too hard. Thanks for watching
