Youtube rolled out a new feature last October called End Screens
End Screens enable you to add up to 4 clickable links to the end of your videos and more importantly – these clickable links can be viewed on most mobile devices including smartphones.
The problem is, if you already have a youtube channel full of videos you will find this new feature covers over the last crucial seconds of your videos, causing your existing ‘call to action’ to be blocked out.
Which means, for all future youtube video uploads it is essential to add an extra 10 to 20 seconds to the end of your videos to accommodate this new feature.
Having tried this with a few of my own videos I noticed that by simply leaving a blank space at the end of my videos and then adding the End Screen features looked a bit flat and boring and didn’t give a strong call to action.
That’s why I decided to create a custom End Screen template to accommodate the video links, website button and subscribe icon that are included in End Screens.
If you are planning to create a template yourself, you’ll also need to allow for the inner End Screen boarder that sites within your main video screen. This comes up as a fine blue lines boarder when you click on the End Screens tab and dictates the space in which you can place each clickable feature.
