This is a brand new Jameson... Let's dive right in!

Jameson Irish Whiskey released this Single Pot Still whiskey as a surprise, and it's a great surprise! Jameson Single Pot Still is more than just a classic single pot still whiskey, as it has been aged in five different oaks: Bourbon casks, Sherry Casks and Virgin American, European and Irish Oak.

It's the inclusion of Irish oak which intrigues me the most, as whiskey aged in Irish oak barrels is very rare, as there are not a lot of mature Irish oak forests available for the production of barrels.


Despite being about 4 years old, it retails for about the same price as Green Spot and Redbreast 12, but I think it's a fair price when I consider the complexity coming from the oak, it coming in at a higher ABV of 46% as well as the inclusion of Irish oak.

Ultimately, I think this may be a contender for one of my top 5 whiskeys of 2022!

Jameson Single Pot Still Tasting Notes:

Nose:
Rich with woody sweetness, reminiscent of pine sap, with plenty of caramel and vanilla fudge. Pot still spices mix with the spice of new oak and over time, some honeyed apple reveals itself.

Palate:
Oak spice combined with gingery baking spices create a warming feeling, which coupled with the destinctively dense Pot Still mouthfeel creates a wonderfully rich sensation. Some oak tannins, dark cocoa powder, dried fruits and honey keep the palate interesting.

Finish:
Medium-long finish, with the spice outlasting the sweetness and a touch of the pine sap from the nose making a reappearance.
