The Acorn Dog Whelk can occasionally be encountered in or associated with reefs both along the Queensland coast as well as offshore. Like most Dog Whelks it is a very active scavenger looking like a miniature dalmatian cruising the sand patches between coral heads. I have also uploaded a video of the subspecies, Nassarius glans ssp. particeps for contrast but unfortunately youtube has degraded that video rather severely :(
