There weren't many laps turned in the IndyCar first practice at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course on Friday, due to the combination of teams waiting out the first half so more rubber could be laid down, then rain moving in the second half. Still, defending race winner/season champ Alex Palou of Chip Ganassi Racing and Pato O'Ward of McLaren Racing agreed the true test of the new hybrid-assist engines is going to come in the race, in terms of the strategies employed. But its first use in qualifying comes Saturday headed toward Sunday's Honda Indy 200.
