Mistaya Canyon Banff National Park Canada! Explored, with Nature Sounds.
Canyon is a canyon in the western part of the Canadian province of Alberta. It has a scenic trail along the Icefields Parkway in Banff National Park which is formed by the Mistaya River. The 0.5 km trail to the canyon starts at a large parking area on the west side of the Parkway and is clearly marked by signs on the highway and at the beginning of the trail. The Mistaya River flows out of Peyto Lake all the way to the canyon here before joining the Saskatchewan River. You can see signs of past water levels and swirling patterns that erode the limestone walls of the canyon into uniquely polished shapes.
The power of water is just incredible. There is a bridge at the bottom of the hill where you can stand directly over the falls and see just how deep the river has cut through the rock. When you get to the canyon, the water is impressive. Mother Nature is at her finest here with roaring water. If you’re driving past the trail head, definitely stop for this one. It was surrounded by such gorgeous scenery of mountains and forests and was very picturesque, perfect for plenty of photo opportunities.
