A wee bit of sheer self indulgence here as I've really only posted this wee gem for my own eyes and ears... :-) (so if ye dinnae like it then bugger aff an watch sum other stuff cos rers plentae mer here fur ye tae choose frae)... :-p
A wee man with a big, big voice... Wee Lofty (Don Estelle) finally got to sing his song that the grumpy Sgt Major (Windsor Davies) would never let him sing in the 1970's hit comedy series "It Aint Half Hot Mum"...
Forty years I've waited to get hold of this clip and they finally showed it again over Christmas on a BBC Top Of The Pops special from 1975... :-)
Takes me back to my days as a kid and watching "It Aint Half Hot Mum" and the antics of wee Lofty & the Sgt Major and how we always wanted him to come out on top and get to sing his songs as only he could... :-)
Twas a different time and a different era back then, when things including humour was much simpler, gentler and just like Laurel & Hardy it turned out that yet here was another great comedy actor with a voice the belied his diminutive stature and the underdog character he played... :-)
This ones for me, unless of course you like it too but whatever the case may be there's no denying the powerful voice of wee Lofty/ Don Estelle... :-)
