This extraordinary recording presents an authentic conversation that took place on June 13, 2000. The interlocutors at that time were two former prisoners of Auschwitz, German Nazi concentration camp. On June 14, 1940, they were deported from the prison in Tarnów, among 728 people in the first transport of Poles.
Eugeniusz Hejka (1918-2009) was sentenced to death in July 1940 after the escape of one of the prisoners. At the last moment, while already on the gallows, he learned that the sentence had been changed to flogging and a penal stay in the Flossenburg camp.
Kazimierz Albin (1923-2019) escaped from KL Auschwitz in sensational circumstances in 1943. In the years 1943-1945 he was active in the Home Army sabotage squad in Kraków.
This is the first part of previously unpublished interviews with former prisoners of the first transport to KL Auschwitz.
