In US news and current events today, this 102-year-old has survived cancer & 2 pandemics in her lifetime. Back in 1918, baby Gerry and her mother fell ill during the influenza pandemic. After Gerry and her mother recovered, Gerry went to college, and received both bachelors and masters degrees before becoming a teacher and marrying right after WWII. After Gerry retired, she developed breast cancer and colon cancer but was able to beat both.
