I went backpacking with ONLY budget backpacking gear from REI! This is the second video in my series testing the most budget friendly gear from major outdoor brands, and this time I'm testing gear from the brand I probably know best in the world - my old friend REI! For those who don't know, I worked at REI for 12 years, both in the stores and at the headquarters outside Seattle. But REI launched their budget friendly Trailmade collection after I left the company, so this gear was mostly all new to me! I bought a full kit of the REI Trailmade budget backpacking gear, and took it on an overnight backpacking trip to see what I think! Do my friends at REI Co-op make the best budget backpacking gear on the market? Honestly, I struggled with this one and I think some of the gear in this test really stretches the term 'budget' in a pretty big way. But one item particular I would say is a contender to be the best value piece of budget backpacking gear out there... watch the video to see which!
