If you feel nervous when you have to tell a story in front of your class
If your hands feel clammy, your heart starts racing, or your knees wobble uncontrollably. You may have storyteller stage fright.
English language teachers know what a powerful tool storytelling can be for engaging young students, encouraging their imagination, creativity, and language development.
However, it's common to feel intimidated or nervous when it comes to telling stories, especially when you're standing in front of a classroom full of eager young students, all eyes are on you to create some magic.
It's natural to feel challenged by the pressure to captivate their attention and deliver an engaging story.
In this video, I share three quick and easy storytelling confidence boosters based on how actors overcome stage fright.
They include rehearsing your story out loud instead of in your mind, connecting words to images to focus your energy, and strengthening your voice by playing around and exaggerating with it.
