In 1930, August (Augie) Duesenberg acquired this automobile from 12-time Indianapolis 500 racer Elbert “Babe” Stapp. During his time as the vehicle’s owner, Augie made some performance enhancing modifications that included removing some of the factory-built engine components, and replacing the manifold and cylinder head with offset valves. Augie owned the vehicle until his death in 1955. It is currently owned by the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Foundation.
