National Taiwan University's Graduate Institute of National Development revoked Democratic Progressive Party Taoyuan City mayoral candidate Lin Chih-chien's master's degree on Aug. 9 after determining he committed plagiarism in his thesis. Lin continued to proclaim his innocence on Aug. 10. Meanwhile, the academic integrity of Lin's thesis advisor, current National Security Bureau Director-General Chen Ming-tung, has also come under question.
民進黨桃園市長參選人林智堅的台大國發所碩士論文被指抄襲，台大昨公布審議結果，認定林智堅抄襲余正煌碩士論文，撤銷林智堅碩士學位。林智堅今天重申，自己絕無抄襲，更批評余正煌若真的要提告他誹謗，那就是人前感謝，人後放箭。而林智堅指導教授、現任國安局長陳明通的學術倫理也被質疑。
