Meet Dr Eric Palacpac, a University of Leeds alumnus supported by the Ford Foundation International Fellowships Program, and a #StudyUKAlumniAwards National Finalist for Social Action Award.
Dr Palacpac is a seasoned agriculturist and researcher in animal science, agricultural extension and knowledge management. He earned a PhD in Social Geography from the University of Leeds in 2010, focusing on "Science-Society Interface in the Philippines". He holds an MSc in Animal Science and a BSc in Agriculture from the University of the Philippines Los Baños.
As the Chief of the Department of Agriculture - Philippine Carabao Center's Knowledge Management Division, he oversees knowledge capture, storage, sharing and organisation of learning events for farmers and local government extension professionals.
He is also an active member of the Philippine Society of Animal Science (PSAS) and the Philippine Extension and Advisory Services Network (PhiEASNet).
Dr Palacpac sees his University of Leeds education pivotal for his professional excellence, emphasising critical analysis, scholarly rigour, deep societal understanding and pragmatic knowledge application. He hopes to scale up livestock innovations through R&D and extension, and potentially expand his leadership roles to further contribute to the agricultural landscape.
