Gabriella Medina and Laura Jabalera, two clients of Arizona nonprofit Fresh Start Women’s Foundation, aim to join Intel’s first U.S. registered apprenticeship pilot program for manufacturing facility technicians, in partnership with the Arizona Commerce Authority (ACA), the Phoenix Business and Workforce Development Board, the SEMI Foundation and Maricopa Community Colleges District (MCCD). The apprenticeship will consist of a one-year curriculum based on Intel technician core competencies, including technical knowledge, industry knowledge, communication skills, problem solving and critical thinking. It will include a mix of paid “classroom” learning and on-the-job training. Apprentices are considered full-time Intel employees on day one and will earn a certificate and college credits upon successful completion of the program. (Credit: Intel Corporation)
