In a meeting with Modi on the sidelines of the Uzbekistan summit, Putin said India's rich history and ancient culture are of great interest to Russians.
Modi said that Moscow and New Delhi had been allies for decades and thanked Putin for assisting evacuating thousands of Indian students from Ukraine during Russia's "special military operation" in February.
Alina Arutyunova, deputy chairman of Moscow's tourism committee, in Mumbai said Russia might possi-bly introduce a visa-free regime for Indian tourist groups.
According to Arutyunova, the top three non-CIS nations that send the most visitors to Russia are Turkey, Germany and India.
