Our second Munro! We climbed the famous Ben Lomond (974m), the most southerly Munro.

As we planned to wild camp we were carrying our gear, 12 kg (Fred) and 8 kg (Eva). We started our trip taking the Ferry from Tarbet to Inversnaid, which takes about 45 minutes, as such we set off on our hike at about 11 am. We ascended via the 'tourist' path, south west of the peak, and the climb was very straight forward with a very well mainted path. After reaching the peak we decended via the Ptarmigan Ridge, which was much quieter, wilder and generally more interesting than the route we took up (which we expected).

As we were planning to get the bus from Balmaha the following day, we headed south in that direction, along the West Highland Way, after reaching Rowardennan. As it was such a beautiful evening we decided to cook our food at Sallochy Bay on the shores of Loch Lomond, after which we headed into the forest until we were out of the camping management zone. We pitched up in a pine forest, after battling against the midges and went back down to Sallochy Bay the following morning to have our breakfast before the quick hike to Balmaha, and home.
