Fishies! The sequin fashionistas of water realms.
Watching fishes is so relaxing. If they are in a pond, it is a cute game of hide and seek. If they are in a fish tank, it is mesmerising to see how they move around in beautiful and peaceful underwater forests. Like portals to a chill dimension.
This is a study to learn about layering ultraviolet paints, and my first try at drawing a fish... or at least the sequin light of a fish. The paint very warm and glowy when mixed and under the UV light. I used pencil and ink to make it look nice in normal light as well. Even if it is just an exploration, it was very satisfying to paint. It is so fun to see how different the painting looks depending on the type of light.
I am a fan of Alice Beska, the goldfish that was rescued from a backyard. She did not live long due to her injuries, but she was pampered as much as possible by her rescuer. I hope that she is swimming happily at the other side of the rainbow bridge.

What is ASMR?
ASMR stands for Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response and it is a form of paresthesia (that tingling sensation that happens on your skin sometimes, and yes the typical pins and needles that sometimes people feel on their skin are also a form of paresthesia), often starting on the head and moving down spine and rest of the body like a wave, commonly known as ""tingles"". ASMR is usually triggered by audio or visual stimuli, and the triggers are diffeernt for every individual person. Researching ASMR is difficult, but from the neurology side it is already known that the brain areas stimulated are the medial prefrontal cortex (associated with social behaviors) and the secondary somatosensory cortex (associated with the sensation of touch). Not everyone experiences ASMR, but exploring varied potential triggers and the work of different ASMRtists sometimes helps. Even people who do not feel ""the tingles"" may listen or watch ASMR content to help them relax, sleep, and even get into a meditative state as ASMR content is usually pleasant and peaceful, promoting resting and wellbeing.
