Drinking Coke can become an addiction — similar to tobacco, alcohol, or drugs, it feels good when you consume it, but it can wreak havoc on your body long-term. Nothing good can come from living solely on soda. Whether diet or regular, here's what happens when you drink only Coke.
Hundreds of millions of people enjoy drinking Coke or Pepsi every day. Presently, about 1.9 billion servings of Coke are sold daily. About half of the population of the USA drinks at least half a glass of soda every day of their lives.
Even if you wanted to drink something else, you'd be hard-pressed to find it as prominently displayed in vending machines, at fast-food chains, and supermarket checkouts. You might not realize how common Coke, Pepsi, and the like are in our society until you try to stop drinking soda.
For some people, drinking several sodas a day is a fierce habit. You know drinking soda is a habit when you find yourself going to the grocery store in the middle of the night because your refrigerator is tapped out, or you feel like having a tantrum when the drive-through attendant tells you the soda machine is broken.
It's well-known that Coke contains a ton of sugar, and isn't all that healthy, but what would happen to your body if it's all you drank? Usually, these sorts of questions are answerable only by diving into the various factors of body chemistry, the soda's composition, and how our bodies react to such a thing, but in this case, there are real-world examples to learn from.
Nutrition experts not only recommend limiting your consumption of soda but most advocate for avoiding it altogether as there are zero health benefits and several negative impacts. As more and more research investigates the ill effects of soda on the human body, it may be time for you to give it up, or at least reduce the amount you intake on a daily or weekly basis.
