Today Lawman Guitars is Presenting..
A very beautiful and unique Gibson Guitar. It’s a 1978 Gibson Les Paul Custom in Tobacco Sunburst, with a Ebony Fretboard. This Lester is awesome! We are so used to seeing Black ones from this era...Its cool to find a Sunburst! I couldn’t believe my eyes when it walked into the shop!
Its all original with the gold hardware. Some gold is worn on the pickups but the rest is in beautiful shape. Some buckle rash on the back and the back of the neck, but nothing obnoxious. All original!! It plays and sounds great! I couldn’t put it down after changing the strings. The action is fantastic and the big frets make you want to bend those notes all day!
Here is some info provided by Reverb.com regarding these cool Gibson Guitars…
Like the Les Paul Standard, the Les Paul Custom was replaced with the SG body style at the end of 1960. The original Les Paul and Les Paul Custom were not brought back until 1968. Upon its reintroduction, the Les Paul Custom differed from those of the '50s in number of ways: the headstock was a slightly steeper angle, the control cavity in the body was cut in a different manner, and the neck tennon was longer. Starting in 1969, the Custom also adopted a multi-ply body construction with a Maple top like the Les Standard, where the original Les Paul Custom used an all Mahogany body. In the late '70s (often consider the low point of Gibson history) some non-standard Les Paul Customs were produced with Maple fingerboards instead of the usually Ebony fingerboard. These guitars can be of interest to Les Paul collectors.

The guitar is a one owner guitar. It weighs 10 lbs 14 ozs. It has the standard Gibson 24 1/2 inch scale neck with a 1 5/8 inch nut. I checked the pots and it looks like I was the first person to ever open this one up. Totally unmolested. See pic 12....
It comes in the original Gibson Hard Shell Chainsaw Case. Its one of the niceset we have seen. Check that Royal Blue Plush. As nice as the day it was made! Even still has the Gibson logo on the case... It is shown in the pics and the guitar looks great in it! Check those pics!
Sold as is no returns as its vintage and used…however, I have been hand picking my customers guitars for over 20 years now and they have loved the instruments I find. This beautiful Gibson will not be an exception to that.
Thanks for checking out our cool Guitars!
