This presents a primetime television documentary called Second Home. It was made in 1986, a long time ago yet I suspect, the basic emotions presented in it remain the same as they were back then. Navy sailors going to sea a board a giant aircraft carrier, in this case the John F. Kennedy. They were headed for Lebanon. The Navy gave me the opportunity to take a film crew and record their real experiences leaving home for more than six months. I am very proud of this documentary and especially proud of the song that we created to express that special moment of leaving. Of all of the documentaries I have made, filming on the deck of an aircraft carrier during flight operations was the most exciting and in many ways, the most dangerous filming I have ever done. I don't think I would've survived if the men on the flight deck weren't watching out for me. In one case, a sailor kicked me in the back just before the wire intended to catch an F 14 fighter jet snapped tight. I was also very impressed with the dedication of the Top Gun fighter pilots who were on call 24/7, day and night.
