This is a DIY camera slider motor that I built for fun. The rail system is a StudioFX 40" Pro DSLR Camera Slider. The slider was $120 on Amazon. The motor and the drive belt is a mix of parts from ebay and Amazon that I assembled myself.
This is basically just a mash up of random parts assembled on a wooden board and then clamped to a Studio FX 40" slider with a C clamp. You can get an assortment of C clamps in any hardware store for around $1. I took some free wood from the scrap section of Home Depot. You’ll need a basic soldering gun to connect a few of the wires.
The motor is a Tamiya 72008 4 Speed Worm Gearbox, $11 on Amazon. You have to assemble the gearbox kit yourself. It takes about 15 minutes. It comes with a motor. I bought a rubber belt from McMaster Carr here for $20. [ Ссылка ]
The belt fit this particular slider perfectly. I bought all the little controllers on Ebay. You'll need some 24 gauge wiring to connect everything for $3, On/Off Switch 3 x 1.5V AA Battery Cell Case $1, DC New 1.8V 3V 5V 6V 12V 2A Low Voltage Motor Speed Controller $3, 5A DC Motor Control Forward/Off/Reverse Polarity Reversal Rotation Toggle Switch $3. The last item you'll need is a BEIKE Camera Tripod Ball Head Ballhead with Quick Release Plate 1/4 for $21. The order I hooked all of the components together went battery case-speed controller-toggle switch-motor.
You’ll have to get creative when attaching the belt to the slider. I made a little pulley out of a 1/4 inch screw, a few nuts and some washers and mounted a little plastic gear to turn the belt. You can find this last item cheap if you look around, but you can always order 2 drive pulleys with a .2 pitch here for $7 each [ Ссылка ]
