Guts had the opportunity to test the Canon RF 1200mm f8 lens while hosting a photo safari in Svalbard—in search of polar bears! As Guts mentions in his video, viewing distances of polar bears in Svalbard will be dramatically increased from 2025, so a lens like the Canon RF 1200mm might be a great choice for still getting great shots of polar bears on the ice. We have decided to wait and see if the rules are going to be relaxed before we host another safari there, as having to photograph a bear from several hundred meters away will be challenging.
