This is Scottish Power Pipe Band under Pipe Major Christopher Armstrong playing at the 2013 British Pipe Band Championships in Meadow Park, Bathgate, on 25 May 2013.
The band's competition selection was:
March: The Conundrum (composer Peter R. MacLeod)
Strathspey: Blair Drummond (traditional)
Reel: Pretty Marion (traditional)
I wonder if this appearance establishes a record for the greatest number of pipers in the front row of a competing pipe band. I make it eleven pipers, rather more than the usual six or seven at Grade One. I think that with twenty-nine pipers it may have been one of the largest pipe corps as well. (It is said that 78th Fraser Highlanders competed at The Worlds in 2007 with thirty pipers.) This put me in the unusual position of not being able to get the whole band in the frame at any one time.
Scottish Power Pipe Band was placed fifth in the Grade One competition on this occasion.
DISCLOSURE
The band had an unwelcome squawk from one of the chanters during the second opening drum roll. I've edited this out, but this was a competition so should be borne in mind.
