Going forward, I am doing this all backward. I will be using M80's on snares and M1s on toms/floors. Here's why...
I like the option to heavily dampen the snare if needed. With the M80 I can get that, but I can also flip one of both tabs up on the end to allow more breath or ring if desired.
For me, the M80s flopped against floor tom heads as they resonated. This was on the 16 and 18. I haven't tried one on a 14, yet. As they flopped, the metal rattled against the mylar heads. Not everyone may experience this, so I would certainly recommend giving them a try.
On the upside, these are much nicer and better manageable than the sticky gel pads. Between the M80's and M1's I will eventually have no gel pads anywhere on any of my drum sets.
