I’ve had a number of requests to shoot a video series about the Yaesu FT-710 AESS, similar to my FTdx10 series. Ham Radio Outlet loaned me a Yaesu FT-710 AESS for just that purpose.
Note: The members of the Patreon support team, who help offset the costs associated with this channel, have asked me not to focus solely on the FT-710 AESS, because they are overwhelmingly not interested in this transceiver. Most of them already have the FTdx10, FTdx5000MP, or other transceivers, that they are completely happy with. I provided the members of the Patreon support team with a synopsis of my first impressions of the FT-710 AESS, along with an opportunity to preview a video that reveals something that I think is very disappointing about the FT-710 AESS. I knew that some of them were considering the FT-710 AESS as a first transceiver and I felt compelled to share my findings with them ahead of the video releases, knowing that the incredible discounts for the FTdx10 are scheduled to expire on 10/31/2022. I wanted the Patreon support team members to have the information needed to help them make an informed decision before the FTdx10 discounts expire. I will continue this series, releasing one video per week, but I will continue to release content related to other aspects of amateur radio.
