Being the oldest national parks in New Zealand, the Tongariro Crossing is a great walk that shouldn't be missed.
During our journey to "middle earth", we saw Mount Doom from the popular Lord of the Rings.

Tongariro Crossing is a 19.4km long walk/hike. It will take you about 8 - 10 hours to complete it and it's no easy task!

Do remeber to hydrate well and bring enough food and walk as there's no water stops, canteen or shops during this hike.

Tough being it's first name, the peak display the awesomeness it holds as well the lakes that's a reward for hikers who cross the peak.

Be warned, some people have lost their lives and it can be dangerous at time.

Pro-tip: Check with some local hostels to find out if the crossing can be done on the day you are looking as they will have the latest updates!
