FameLab Ireland Final 2015
Can looking at a screen make your ears stop working? Gillian Murphy describes her research inspired by her boyfriends games console.
Gillian is a Lecturer in Applied Psychology at University College Cork and has undertaken a PhD in Cognitive Psychology, funded by the Irish Research Council. Gillian’s research was looking at driving behaviour, seeking to understand how and why drivers’ attention can fail.
Gillian is especially interested in applied research and is passionate about using psychology research to improve our everyday lives. When not in the driving simulation lab she can be found in a dance studio, teaching contemporary dance to children and adults.
