Fads are super quick (you barely have any time to buy and wear them!), while trends can last several seasons or years.
How do you decide if a trend is for you? You have to develop your filter. The easiest way to do that is to pick a few words that describe your sense of style - maybe that's edgy, preppy, classic, sporty or boho. These two to three words will help you determine if you can get the most out of that trend (it will work with the rest of your wardrobe, you'll feel comfortable in it and so on).
