Mark Lazarowicz, Chair of the European Movement in Scotland (EMiS), has delivered the first in a series of planned EMiS Webinars.
He spoke on Understanding and campaigning on EU citizens’ rights after Brexit with contributions from a German and Spanish national. They both gave real life experiences of the process, now made worse by the Coronovirus situation and the government’s apparent use of administrative procedures to place obstacles in their way.
Webinar participants expressed shame on discovering how the current UK government is dealing with EU27 nationals’ rights in this country post Brexit.
The bumpy path to UK citizenship for EU nationals is a clear example of the bad faith of our government in building any form of post Brexit relationship, not only with our EU neighbours, but also with the EU nationals who already form part of our communities and contribute to our economy across the UK, and in many cases have done so for decades.
