My first ever speedrun. This is the N64 Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire on Jedi difficulty, with all Challenge Points (100%), and no use of the Jetpack Glitch/clip, on the English version. It was played on Project 64 using a GameCube controller, so is therefore illegitimate, even though no cheats were used. I need a new N64 controller with a good control stick to play it on my N64. Here are some notes on the run:
1. There were many sloppy points and poorly timed deaths, so I could easily save 10-15 minutes by cleaning up those mistakes. If I repeat this, my goal is 1:12:00 or less. The Japanese version with the Jetpack glitch can be done JEDI 100% in 1 hour exactly. However, the Japanese version has more convenient ammo placement and Challenge Point placement, so the English version is automatically longer. The Jetpack Clip saves about 5-10 minutes on 100%, specifically on Gale Spaceport and the Sewers.
2. I had a badly timed death on Echo Base that was a big loss, and one in the Sewers.
3. Gale Spaceport was awful. I botched up so many little spots and had tons of pointless deaths that made the final stage slower. I also did horrible on Boba Fett. This is easily where the most time can be saved in the future.
4. Skyhook was also very bad. I did not practice turning the ship around inside the core, and therefore lost a ton of time with two or three pointless deaths. I also was on my last life and had to escape the station instead of just blowing up to save time.
5. Many a switch did not press when I first pressed the "R" button. It pissed me off, and so that's collectively 5 minutes of pointless dancing around terminals. I also had a brain lapse in Xizor's Palace of where the two tower challenge points and exit were.
Overall, this could easily be a 1:12:00 with practice, if not less. I don't think I can pull off the 1:03:00 I saw though on the Japanese version. I'm not in it for a World Record, and I am not on Twitch. This was just a personal challenge.
