Throughout the Commonwealth, and beyond, CWEIC is honoured to meet remarkable women in business who are breaking barriers in spite of the inherent difficulties they may face. To celebrate International Women’s Day on the 8th of March, we spoke to women from the #CWEIC network to learn more about their experiences as a woman in business.
Rwanda is currently Chair-in-Office of the Commonwealth and for the final video, we spoke to Clare Akamanzi, CEO of Rwanda Development Board and Member of Cabinet, about how she thinks the Commonwealth can support women in business.
In 2008, Rwanda became the first country to have a majority of women in its government, and over 60 per cent of parliament seats are currently being held by women. Rwanda ranked number six on the Global Gender Gap Index 2022 by the World Economic Forum, which benchmarks the current state and evolution of gender parity.
