All the videos and guides I saw/read didn't apply to my E90 LCI. I figured out an alternative on how to do it, although it's not as easy. It does involve sliding the DME out. However, it's not as bad as it sounds. I don't imagine it taking more than 1/2 an hour. I STRONGLY recommend having a friend to help you feed a wire through the firewall.
