The roman empire is 28th biggest in history, hitting its peak in 117 AD under the rule of Trajan. Trajan belongs to the group of five good emperors which made the empire stronger, stable and achieved greater prosperity, with Rome reaching a population of 1 million.
The empire covered 5 million square kilometres at its peak. With a population of 50 million, the empire controlled roughly 20% of the world’s population at the time. The empire ruled over most of Europe with almost the entire Mediterranean coast being controlled with part of north Africa and the middle east as well.
