In 2011, when she was 14-years-old, Abby Anderson, now 17, of Olathe, suffered a stroke. The stroke affected the left side of Abby's body. Through hard work, as well as physical and occupational therapy at the Rehabilitation Institute of Kansas City, Abby has regained use of her left leg, but not her left hand. After about a month of trying, Abby recently learned to pull her hair into a ponytail by herself, regaining a small piece of her independence. Video by Tammy Ljungblad/The Kansas City Star.
